12 Days of Anime 2022 – Day 00: Introduction

I’ve decided that I’m going to do the 12 days of anime thing again this year so this post is to announce that as well as explain what it is about.

So what exactly is 12 Days of Anime?

12 Days of Anime is a tradition which was started quite a while back where anime bloggers write a series of 12 blog posts daily starting on 14th December and leading up to the final post on Christmas day.

The posts generally have a theme, usually anime related. But basically whatever the blogger feels like writing about is fine. I’ve noticed that as the years go by fewer and fewer anime bloggers are doing this, but hopefully a few people besides me also do it this year.

So what will my posts be about?

This year I’ve decided to go with anime hidden gems of 2022.

The criteria that I have decided on for an anime to qualify as a hidden gem for this post series is simple.

  1. The majority or a notable part of the anime must have aired in 2022.
  2. The anime has to have less than 20,000 users with it marked as completed on MAL. (or 20,000 watching for the shows still currently airing)
  3. I have to think the anime deserves more attention.

So yeah, pretty straightforward.

The posts will just be a mini-review for each of the shows I’ve chosen, and hopefully I do a good enough of showcasing them since they are all shows I enjoyed.

Anyway, I’ll be doing this for the next 12 days starting tomorrow so check back daily for those if you are interested.

26th December edit:

Final thoughts/comments:

So yeah, this was fun.

Not many bloggers participated this year (as expected). But I enjoyed the challenge, and I plan to be back next year as well.

Also, while I remember its existence, check out this spreadsheet. It isn’t updated for 2022 currently, but it has links to 12 days blog posts all the way back to 2015. In my opinion it is treasure trove of interesting posts, which of course also makes it a good way to find new blogs to follow as well.

  1. Have to agree with you there. I mentioned this on another blog, 12 days used to be a big thing, now fewer bloggers are doing it. I’ll be skipping it as well sadly. Have fun doing it though.

    • Thanks, I will have fun I hope.

It is a big commitment though, so I do understand people being less motivated to do the 12 days posts. I think it is a cool idea though, so I’m planning on doing it the next few years and hoping it becomes popular again.
