12 Days of Anime 2022 – Day 12: Heroine Tarumono!

Merry Christmas everyone. This is day 12 of this years 12 Days of Anime which means that this will be the final post.
The anime I have selected for this post is Heroine Tarumono, and I am very happy to be able to end this 12 Days of Anime series of posts with it as it ended up being a favourite for me this year.
So first thing I’d like to mention about this anime is that it is a HoneyWorks anime.
For those who don’t know, HoneyWorks a group that creates songs to release with music video included on youtube/niconico etc. The cool thing about them is that their songs always tell a story.
I can’t think of many other things which can fit so much into just 3 minutes. Everything… the visual direction, the characters, the lyrics, they all just fit together so well and as proof of that, we have anime that has been adapted from their songs.
So yeah. Heroine Tarumono, as well as some previous HoneyWorks anime are actually adaptions of songs, which really says something about how well the songs can tell a story if they can be adapted into a full 12 episode anime series.
What HoneyWorks anime does well (and Heroine Tarumono is no exception), is that its central characters and their relationships are really well done.
With Heroine Tarumono, our protagonist is a regular girl. She is a hardworker always busy with club activities, and she is actually really likable.
The concept of the anime soon becomes apparent. The protagonist finds herself thrown into a world very foreign from what she is used to. Until now she has never had any interest in idols, but for her new part time job she finds herself in a manager-like position for two male idols who are also her classmates.
I really enjoyed the chemistry between both her the idols. Them interacting with each other is really good, because all three of them are able to learn and grow in ways they never would have otherwise.
Anyway, it is a really enjoyable show to watch. I really do recommend this to anyone who thinks it even looks the slightest bit interesting. (And especially if you also like good romance in anime.)
Although if you are after romance specifically, either of the other previous HoneyWorks anime similar to this, Itsudatte Bokura no Koi wa 10 cm Datta, or Kokuhaku Jikkou Iinkai might be a better choice.
In any case, give something from HoneyWorks a try. It has quite the unique flavor, and should only take an episode or so to tell whether or not it is something you might be interested in.
