12 Days of Anime 2022 – Day 12: Heroine Tarumono!

Merry Christmas everyone. This is day 12 of this years 12 Days of Anime which means that this will be the final post.
The anime I have selected for this post is Heroine Tarumono, and I am very happy to be able to end this 12 Days of Anime series of posts with it as it ended up being a favourite for me this year.

Muv-Luv Alternative is the story that started it all. It’s slightly complicated, but a visual novel called Muv-Luv was released in 2003 and at first glance it was just a typical comedy slice-of-life story.
What makes Muv-Luv unique and possibly why it still has so many fans both in Japan and overseas is that it pulls of a genre shift. For the first half, it actually is exactly what it appears to be, but later it completely changes into something else. All of a sudden, the protagonist and all the other characters are now enlisted in the military and are training to fight and defend against alien invaders called BETA.

Zero no Tea Time is a spin-off of Detective Conan which follows the everyday life of a certain Amuro Tooru (sometimes also known as Zero).

Kyoukai Senki is a show I have mixed feelings towards. On one hand it includes everything which makes a mecha anime good. I did enjoy it and wish more people had watched it. Especially as we don’t get many mech anime these days.

Kaginado is an anime which parodies all of the major KEY works (Kanon, Air, Clannad, Little Busters!, Rewrite, Planetarian, Angel Beats).
For anyone familiar with the works, seeing all the characters from the different series interact with each other is pretty great.

Reasons contributing to Yojouhan Time Machine Blues not having many viewers yet is easy to imagine.
- It is a sequel.
- Content-wise as well as visually it isn’t very anime-like.
- As far as I know it is currently only available on Disney+/Hulu.
